50% SCRAP ON A TRANSFER TOOL

The first run on parts XXX1 and XXX2 was a disaster.  Scrap was in the 50% range.  The die for these parts was transferred to TDC from another Die Caster.

High rejection rate for poor-fill and solder.

2.EXPLOIT:

CAUSE:

Super high gave velocity

POSSIBLE CURES (ACTION ITEMS):

*Get approval from Customer for a permanent gate pad

*Remove runner system in cover half.

*Weld and re-cut runner in slides.



FOLLOW UP:

Date: May 21, 2003

These parts now run great with virtually no scrap.  There is virtually no porosity (as compared with full of porosity before).  We feel like this was a major success.
