Breakroom is not always clean.
2. EXPLOIT (DEFINE CAUSE(S) AND CURE(S))
People put their feet on the tables & benches, throw gum on the floor, leave open cans in the refridgerator, do not clean up the table after eating.
A) Do not put feet on the tables and benches
B) Do not throw gum on the floor
C) Do not leave open cans in the refridgerator
D) Do not leave dirty dishes in the sink
E) After eating put trash in the trash cans and empty cans in the "cans only" containers
F) Wipe off the table
3. SUBORDINATE (INVOLVE\TRAIN OTHERS)
This can be accomplished but it will take everyone to do their part.
4. ELEVATE (DOCUMENT IMPROVEMENT)
Monitor our progress. (see FOLLOW UP below)
5. INERTIA (CELEBRATE SUCCESS)
With everyone's support we will all benefit by having a nice and clean breakroom.
NOTE: Beware of the resistance layers that hinder progress on solving constraints.
A) It's not our fault
B) Our problems are different
C) Don't have time
D) Policy won't let us
E) Management won't support us
FOLLOW UP - Step 4. ELEVATE-Monitor our progress. The constraint form was passed out to employees and posted on the breadroom bulletin board. The situation did not improve enough. The constraint was further ELEVATED by making each shift supervisor responsible for breakroom cleanliness during their shift. This additional step was necessary to sucessfully cure this constraint.
